Access and donations
Relifeme is a Web App viewable at the address www.relifeme.com on any model of telephone, tablet and computer and with all browsers.
The choice to make Relifeme usable only from the Internet is born with the purpose of creating a platform that is as universal as possible and that allows you to use it by reducing the access requirements to a minimum. For this reason, it is not necessary for you to register with a store, download an App or own a credit card, you only need to have a valid email and a connection to the Network.
The economic model of the Web App too is designed to break down obstacles and barriers, allowing everyone to register for free and to have the same set of tools and prerogatives. There is only a programme of free donations by users, citizens and institutions to the no-profit Association Relifeme, established with the purpose of supporting and spreading the ethical principles of the first social network that starts talking when you are no longer around.
User interfaces
Relifeme is a social network centred on the LifeBook, a personal diary that is located in the Place of Remembrance to be found and consulted.
The set of these places gives life to the Map of Relifeme whose points of interest are represented with lights that identify the LifeBooks that in that place will be available after your death.
If you sign up with Relifeme you can start and customize your LifeBook and search on the Map for those of the other users to read them and to share them.
In addition to the LifeBook and the Map, you also have a Home which is the area where you manage your LifeBooks that you have chosen as a Follower, those where you are called as an Angel or a Friend and where to search for those of interest.
Security policies
The security and the privacy of your data are our aim and must be your certainty.
Your LifeBook safeguards the story of your life, and it is for this reason that every choice we make is guided by a single objective: to make sure that no one can access your contents without your will.
To sign up with Relifeme we ask you only for an email address and a password. You cannot sign up with the social networks, with Apple or with Google: it is a conscious choice, because we do not want the access key to Relifeme to depend on services managed by others or to be in any way linked to your public digital life. Your user profile exists and works only on Relifeme.
The password you choose must respect some minimum security rules, such as an adequate length and a good variety of characters, so that it is truly solid and difficult to discover. It is never stored the way you wrote it: the moment you type it we transform it into a sequence of incomprehensible characters and not even we are able to read it. It is also for this reason that, if you forget it, the only way to restore your credentials is to create a new one.
In addition to the password, we ask you for a unique security code, valid for a single access. This is the so-called two-factor authentication and it is mandatory for all the users of Relifeme. You can choose how to receive it:
- generated by an authentication app, such as Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator or Authy, installed on your telephone, that creates a new code every few seconds;
- sent by our systems to the email address with which you signed up.
The authentication app is the most secure method of all, because the code is generated directly on your telephone and does not travel on any network. The reception via email is nonetheless well protected, because whoever wanted to enter in your place would have to have access to your mailbox. However, unlike the authentication app, in this case the code is sent by our servers to your email provider, which is a service managed by others: for this reason we recommend that you use an email address that is in turn protected by two-factor authentication. The same suggestion applies to every other email address that you will want to add to your user profile.
This combination of password and security code protects you in 2 situations that can happen to anyone:
- if for any reason your password ended up in the wrong hands, for example because of a fraudulent attempt at theft or of a data leak from another service in which you had used it, no one could in any case access your LifeBook without the security code;
- if instead you were to lose the telephone on which you configured the authentication app, whoever finds it could in any case not enter without knowing your password.
To help you keep your user profile under control, we automatically send you an email every time we recognize an access from a device or a browser never used before. In the email you find all the details (date, time, device and browser used), so that you can immediately understand whether it was you and, if not, intervene immediately by changing the password or disconnecting the suspicious session from the dedicated area of your user profile. From that same area you can, at any moment, see all the devices currently connected, disconnect them if you do not recognize them, update the password and change the way in which you prefer to receive the unique security code.
In addition to the protections that you manage directly, Relifeme is defended by advanced systems that work continuously and silently to stop every attempt at unauthorized access, even before it reaches the platform. Below are the main measures.
- Our servers are not accessible directly by anyone, but only through protected channels that we control and monitor.
- Our staff cannot access your contents freely, but only by following very precise internal rules and in specific cases: when another user reports a content or when a competent authority of your country of residence requests it. In each of these cases, the access by the staff is always traced and monitored.
- Every request that arrives is analysed by an intelligent filter that recognizes and blocks those that resemble attack attempts.
- An automatic control distinguishes the real users from the unauthorized programs that try to enter, without creating any disturbance to your browsing.
- If someone tries to guess your password with repeated attempts, the system recognizes it and automatically blocks the access, making this type of attack useless.
- If another site open at the same time in your browser tries to perform actions on Relifeme in your place, for example sending contents or modifying your user profile, the system recognizes the request as illegitimate and blocks it immediately.
- Everything that is written and published on Relifeme is automatically cleaned of any hidden code, so that no one can use their own LifeBook or a comment to convey malicious programs towards the device of another user or towards your contents hosted on Relifeme.
- All the data that you exchange with Relifeme, including the access sessions and the cookies that keep you connected, travel on a channel encrypted with the HTTPS protocol: no one, not even whoever controls the network to which you are connected, such as a public Wi-Fi network, can read or tamper with your data in transit.
- Your contents are encrypted not only when they travel on the network, but also when they are stored on our servers. It means that, even in the remote hypothesis of an abusive physical access to the disks, what you have written in your LifeBook would in any case remain illegible.
- The servers that host Relifeme are located within the European Union and your data are processed according to the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the strictest privacy regulation in the world.
- A control system compares in real time the IP address of whoever tries to contact Relifeme with international lists of subjects known for malicious activities: if it appears in these lists, the request is blocked even before reaching the platform.
- We know that your LifeBook is destined to last over time, even for many years. For this reason the contents that you save are replicated on several independent copies, so that not even a technical failure, an error or an unforeseen event can damage them or cause their loss.
- Relifeme is managed by a no-profit association that has adopted internally all the policies of safeguarding and protection of personal data, including the procedures to handle any security incidents, the so-called "data breaches", and has equipped itself with its own Data Protection Officer (DPO) who guarantees its respect.
- Relifeme does not sell, does not transfer and does not use for commercial purposes your personal data, nor the contents of your LifeBook: our no-profit nature prevents us from doing so by statute, but for us it is above all a precise commitment that we have made with you.
All our security requirements are natively integrated in Laravel, the web development platform that we have adopted, considered one of the most widespread and reliable systems in the world, used also in delicate sectors such as healthcare, finance and public administration. Laravel makes available all the most consolidated security practices: from the protection of your password to the defence from the main web attacks, from the secure management of the access sessions to the encryption of the communications. A global community of developers and security specialists updates it continuously, and with it the foundations of Relifeme too are strengthened every day.
In addition to the internal protection guaranteed by Laravel, at the entrance of the platform there is Cloudflare, one of the most reliable and widespread security networks in the world. It acts as a shield between you and our servers: every request that arrives, both from your devices and from anyone else, always passes through its control systems. Overload attempts, distributed attacks and suspicious requests are stopped, even before they can reach Relifeme.
To guarantee your security and your privacy, every day and at every moment, there are these policies, these advanced and consolidated systems and, above all, the people of our staff who set themselves a single objective: to make sure that the story of your life remains secret, intact and safe, until the day on which you will share it with your Community of affections and relationships.
Legal terms
To access Relifeme you must sign up with a valid email, read and accept the Contract Terms, Privacy and Cookies and give your consent to the processing of your personal data and to the System for the verification of your death.
Before signing up, it is important that you know some basic rules.
- You can have only one user profile: which means that you can have only one LifeBook in your name.
- You cannot open a user profile for another person, even if it is a close relative of yours: which means that you cannot have in your name a LifeBook that remembers another person who is not you.
- You are responsible for the correctness and truthfulness of your information and of your contents that in any format you save or import on the LifeBook.
- You are responsible for any consequences that could derive from the incorrectness and the untruthfulness of your information and of your contents.
- In particular, you are responsible for the correctness and truthfulness of your information and of your contents referring to other people that you in any way mention on the LifeBook.
- You are aware that every information and content that mentions another person, or events in any way related to them, can be reported by the person themselves to whom they refer and by every user, because deemed offensive, untruthful, inappropriate or simply unwelcome, and that this right cannot in any way be prevented by you.
- You are obliged to enter a valid email in the name of every person that you mention in an information and in a content to allow them to be informed about the publication of a data that concerns them and to give them a way to exercise their right to report it and in any case to ignore it and not to follow up on your requests to participate.
- You are aware that every information and content of yours can be programmed by you so that they are published after your death and that this does not in any way constitute a binding commitment, because it is subject to evaluations on the correctness and truthfulness of the same information and of the same contents and more generally on the respect of the international laws and regulations.
- You are aware that all the functionalities of the Relifeme Web App are usable by you from the Internet browsers that you can configure from their respective menus or from those of your devices (smartphone, tablet or computer). And that the functionality of the geolocation of your position on all the maps of Relifeme too is determined through the Internet browsers, from where you can always disable it.
- You are aware that the failure to respect these basic rules, and more generally of what is provided by the Contract Terms, Privacy and Cookies, entails the cancellation of your profile and of the information and of the contents associated with it.
- You must also be certain that if you abide by what is provided in the Contract Terms, Privacy and Cookies, Relifeme guarantees you the maximum availability, integrity and confidentiality of personal information, configurations and instructions. All your data will be safeguarded with the utmost care and in absolute respect of the wishes that you will leave, even after your death.
Protections and responsibilities, rights and duties, opportunities and limits of Relifeme you find them all detailed in the Contract Terms, Privacy and Cookies that we invite you to read before accepting it. The Contract Terms, Privacy and Cookies is available only in English, necessary in an international context, and is drafted in legal form for your protection and for that of the other users and of the people involved by you. However, you have the possibility to read in your language these Instructions and the Principles, both designed to give you a way to know and to evaluate the Relifeme social network.
First access
Once you have signed up, you must enter your personal data, choose your Place of Remembrance on the Map of Relifeme and start the LifeBook.
The Place of Remembrance is the light that you switch on on the Map of Relifeme and that represents your LifeBook and therefore yourself. And for this reason, the moment in which you imagine it, you must feel free from any conditioning and official data, because this is the territory that belongs to you and to which you feel you belong; it is the place in which you recognize yourself, the one linked to your memories and to your most intimate sphere.
Once all the required data have been entered, that you will always be able to update, you can decide to activate or suspend the LifeBook. If you suspend it, it will not be published automatically after the verification of your death.
At the end of the first access path you will be able to start saving your contents and writing on the LifeBook.
User experiences
Relifeme offers you a double experience: one during the passing of your life; the other that begins starting from the verification of your death.
In the first you will use the LifeBook in real time as if it were your secret diary, designed to write thoughts; to save photos, videos and audio; to mark the points of interest; to remember the important people, your values, your ideas and all your world of relationships and knowledge. During this experience, the LifeBook is your chance to talk without constraints or barriers, free from roles and insecurities that inevitably influence you when you communicate with others, directly or through one of the many social networks. In addition to this mode of inner dialogue, you also have another important prerogative of a Network user who is truly free and who has the possibility to really be themselves: the LifeBook will be published only after your death is verified and therefore your secret diary will be unveiled only when you are no longer around. This important prerogative also provides the opportunity to decide when a single multimedia content, previously saved, will be visible on the LifeBook and who will be able to read it. You will thus have a way to program an innovative posthumous publication system that will allow you to talk to whoever you want and whenever you want; to address everyone or only a friend of yours; to send thoughts, photos and videos; to keep talking and to stay close to those you love. While you tell your story on the LifeBook and set up the posthumous publication system, you will also be able to take care of your circle of relationships, consulting and following the LifeBooks of the people you have met or simply those that intrigue you and that will enrich you. On this path between yourself and your communities of affections and loved ones, you may be called on the LifeBook of someone who has dedicated a Post, an Album or a Tag to you, or who asks you to become an Angel or a Friend, or also the Validator of their death or of one of their contents.
At the end of this life itinerary, the second user experience opens, the posthumous one, that begins from the verification of your death, that is when the LifeBook will be published on Relifeme. Although you are no longer here, this is a real way of participating, because the platform keeps seeing you as a present user who publishes data and information, addresses the other users and solicits sharing and comments. In this new condition, your LifeBook changes status: it is no longer the secret diary where to dialogue with yourself, but it becomes the meeting place for family, friends, acquaintances and simple visitors who will all have the opportunity to read and share your words. It will be you, however, who decide when the pages of your diary will be published and who will be able to access it, because you are the author and the director of your story.
Types of users
In Relifeme there exist different types of users, with different modes of access to the LifeBook, that can be associated with the same person.
With regard to a LifeBook a user can be:
- Author: is the main user of Relifeme who sets up the LifeBook and is its sole and exclusive owner: the LifeBook can be searched and identified with their name;
- Friend: is a relative, a loved one or an acquaintance that the Author inserts among the contacts of Relifeme, called Circles, and who for this reason can access their LifeBook, but only if they sign up and become an Author of Relifeme;
- Angel: is a particular Friend of the Author to whom are entrusted the management of the accesses to their LifeBook and some special prerogatives to contribute to the perpetuation of their memory;
- Follower: is an Author of Relifeme who decides to follow a LifeBook of another user and who receives the notifications about their publications;
- Visitor: is an Author of Relifeme who can search the public LifeBooks of the other users to read their contents and, if permitted by privacy, write a Dedication in the appropriate section and a Comment on a single Post and Post in memory; a Visitor can become a Follower, but cannot be a Friend or an Angel who must be chosen and named by the Author;
- Validator: is a trustworthy person of the Author, chosen to certify their death or to unblock one of their contents, set in the Event publication mode; the Validator may also not sign up and for this reason not be an Author of Relifeme.
LifeBook
The LifeBook is organized into 4 sections: Cover, Wall, Collections and Map conceived as a standard model for everyone, but customizable individually.
The Cover is the main page of the LifeBook and provides 2 areas that you can only customize and not modify: a header, with a background image and a profile one and with your Thoughts in the foreground, and a window on the left with the news about you that identify you. Some of these data are mandatory and are those that you must provide in the first access path to the LifeBook, others are optional and are the information that you enter in your user profile and the Tags that you create. The main section of the Cover is the central one that instead you can modify and adapt to your personality, with the publication of the Posts to which you want to give greater visibility.
The Wall is the page of the LifeBook that contains all your Posts, both those in the foreground on the Cover and those that you publish day by day. In the Wall the Posts are organized in a chronological list divided into years and can be read like the pages of your diary. Different however is the navigation of the Wall in the experience in life and in the posthumous one: in the first, when the LifeBook is your diary, the Posts are sorted by last update date, in the second instead, when the LifeBook is the meeting place to remember you and to keep talking with you, by publication mode. In the posthumous experience, therefore, the Posts in the LifeBook publication mode will be available on the LifeBook all together, starting from your first Post, the one with the oldest date, while all the others, in the After the LifeBook, Date and Event publication mode, will be disclosed one at a time and presented as the last Post and therefore as new update pages of your diary.
In addition to the Map of Relifeme, with the LifeBooks of all the users, there is on your LifeBook the personal map where you localize places and contents. This is the area where to select and save the places significant to you that you want to trace on the diary and remember in your biography.
Finally the Collections: the page of the LifeBook that contains all your Media and therefore where you can save and organize images and videos in the most widespread web formats. The architecture of the contents is organized by collections of media, sorted, like the Posts, by last update date in your experience in life and by publication mode in the posthumous one.
LifeBook settings
From the header of the LifeBook you have available the navigation menu to access directly the main sections of your diary.
In the Profile menu item, you have the possibility to correct the personal data that you have entered in the first access path to the LifeBook and to add the optional ones, visible on the Cover, that at any moment you can modify. Always from Profile you manage your account and all the security system for the access to Relifeme, you set the viewing preferences of the main pages of the LifeBook and you can ask for information or report any circumstance deemed relevant through the Write to the staff functionality. From the settings of your account you can cancel the registration to Relifeme and delete your user profile and the whole LifeBook, without leaving any trace of the contents saved previously and of the posthumous publication configurations.
In the Settings menu item you administer the system for the verification of your death and consequently of the publication of the LifeBook, you choose the privacy of the LifeBook, you enable the Dedications and you assign the prerogatives to the Angels, including the publication of the Posts in memory and of the posthumous information on your LifeBook.
In the Planning menu item you manage all the Posts, Albums and Tags that you can search, filter, localize on the map and update their contents and settings of privacy and posthumous publication.
In the Media menu item you have available and organized the collections of photos, videos, audio and attachments of Posts, Albums, Tags and Cover of the LifeBook.
In the Cover menu item you manage and organize the publications of photos and Thoughts in the foreground on the LifeBook. In the photo collections of the Cover and of the Profile you modify the ordering of the individual photos and of the associated Thoughts, and directly on the Cover page of the LifeBook you modify the ordering of the Posts that you have put in the foreground.
In the Circles menu item you add and update your Friends, including the Angels and the Validators of the Posts and of the Albums in the Event publication mode and, if provided by you, the Validators who will have to confirm your death. Every contact has their profile tab that must contain a valid email, in the absence of which you cannot dedicate Posts, Albums and Tags to that contact, you cannot inform them about the publication of your LifeBook and you cannot confer the assignment to your Validators.
Always from the navigation menu, you access the Home of Relifeme, the programme of free donations by users, citizens and institutions to the no-profit Association Relifeme, you read the Instructions of the platform and you disconnect from the LifeBook.
LifeBook privacy
The LifeBook has its own properties of viewing and fruition, extended to all the contents for which a specific more restrictive customization is always provided.
In the Settings menu item, you can decide who will be able to see your LifeBook; these are the options:
- All: the LifeBook is public and visible to the users of Relifeme, including a Visitor;
- Followers: visible to the Followers, Friends and Angels included;
- Friends: visible to the Friends, Angels included.
If you set the privacy in Followers mode, your LifeBook remains in any case public and visible to all the users of Relifeme, including the Visitors, but only as a preview of the Cover. No page is accessible and no content is consultable: the LifeBook opens entirely only when a Visitor chooses to follow you, becoming thus a Follower of yours.
A particular privacy setting, that you cannot change, is the one that informs Angels and Friends of the existence of your LifeBook in Relifeme. At the end of the path of verification of the death, in fact, the system automatically sends all the Angels and Friends a notification that informs them that they have been inserted by you into your Circles and invites them to access your LifeBook.
Posts, Albums and Tags
These are the tools to write on the LifeBook in the experience in life that then become the containers of your story in the posthumous experience.
The Posts you write them, or you tell them with an audio, as if they were the pages of a personal diary. The Albums, instead, are collections of photos and videos that you save on your LifeBook, in the most widespread web formats. Posts and Albums can be localized on the map of your LifeBook to trace the places to which your memories are linked. To each Post and Album you can link a person, an idea or a value. You can thus make use of thematic containers that can be dedicated to someone important to you or to a keyword. These are the Tags of Relifeme, indicated with the at-sign of the email if referring to people, or with the symbol of the hashtag if referring to a concept. The Tags are therefore single collections of Posts and Albums linked to a Friend or to a word, through which you have the possibility to remember a loved one or to deal with a topic important to you. All the Tags have a dedicated section, where you can customize the cover photo, enter a description and decide whether to put them in the foreground on the Cover of the LifeBook.
In the posthumous programming of your contents you must pay particular attention to the Tags on your Friends who are always informed by a notification when on your LifeBook a Post or an Album that mentions them is published. A Tag, however, could not be visible, because the privacy is predominant over the Tags that you eventually insert in Posts and Albums: if you set a restrictive privacy that excludes that person, for example choosing that the contents are visible to a single Friend, that Tag will not be published. Keep finally in mind that you can create a personal Tag only with a Friend that you have previously saved in your Circles and to whom you have associated a valid email.
Privacy of the contents
Regardless of the settings of the LifeBook, each content has its own specific properties of publication, viewing and fruition.
Of each single Post and Album you can decide when it will be published; these are the options:
- Never: available only in your experience in life;
- LifeBook: published with the LifeBook;
- After the LifeBook: made public after the publication of the LifeBook, even years, months or days later;
- Date: published at a specific date, even in Anniversary mode, that determines the recurring publication of the content every year on the set date; however, if you set a date prior to the publication of the LifeBook, the content is published automatically in LifeBook mode, or, if the Anniversary mode is active, every year on the set date starting from the publication of the LifeBook;
- Event: with delegation to a Validator to unblock, and consequently publish on the LifeBook, a Post or Album of yours on the occasion of a particular event.
If you set the Event mode in a Post or in an Album, you can publish a content on the occurrence of a future circumstance that you can only imagine could happen and of which you certainly cannot predict the times, such as for example the diploma or the graduation of a loved one, the birth or the marriage of a relative of yours, or a celebration important to you. If you want to be in any case in some way present on the occasion of these events, you can instruct a Validator who, once the event has been verified, unblocks your Post or Album that will thus be able to be published on the LifeBook and notified to the recipients, so that they read it.
You can also decide who will be able to see your content; these are the options:
- All: visible to the users who can access the LifeBook;
- Followers: visible to the Followers, Friends and Angels included;
- Friends: visible to the Friends, Angels included;
- Customize: visible to an Angel or a Friend, or to a group of Angels or Friends that you choose;
- Message for you: this mode is the one that allows you to write a message only for one person.
Although Posts and Albums have specific settings, the privacy of the LifeBook, that is who will be able to see it, is predominant over the privacy of the single contents and therefore you can only choose more restrictive options to limit their access. Consequently, if you set the privacy of a Post or of an Album in All mode but that of the LifeBook in Followers or Friends mode, that content will not be visible to all the users who can access the LifeBook: in Followers mode it will be seen only by your Followers, Friends and Angels included, in Friends mode it will be seen only by your Friends, Angels included.
It is important that you understand well the functionalities at your disposal, because they are the tool with which you choose what to leave, to whom and at which moment. For each single Post and Album you have at your disposal a set of settings that you can combine in different ways to determine specific modes of publication and privacy. If for example in a content you select the Event publication mode and the Message for you privacy one, you can send to only one of your Friends a Post or an Album on the occurrence of an event that sees them as the protagonist. And if you really want to exclude other people from the sharing of that particular event, you have the possibility to name as Validator the same Friend that you have indicated in the privacy, so that it is them who unblock the content and then consult it on your LifeBook.
Finally, you establish who will be able to comment on your content (the Comments are possible only on the Posts, not on the Albums); these are the options:
- Yes: all the users who, based on the privacy settings of the Post and of the LifeBook, are authorized to see it can comment;
- No: your Post is available in read-only and no one can comment on it.
Updates of the Cover
In addition to the management of Posts, Albums and Tags, you can program the status updates of your Cover with photos and Thoughts.
In the Cover menu item, you manage and organize the publications of photos and Thoughts in the foreground on the LifeBook. You can set a single photo, that remains as a fixed identity image, or a collection of images that alternates on the Cover. To each photo you can associate a Thought that remains in the foreground under your name. In addition to the images and the Thoughts, on the Cover you can also publish all the profile photos that you have used during the experience in life and that you can combine together, so as to have a dynamic gallery with which to express the deepest values, the moral and intellectual qualities, and tell your true identity, the essence of your personality. In the photo collections of the Cover and of the Profile you modify the ordering of the individual photos and of the associated Thoughts and you can change the sequence with which the images alternate on the Cover.
The updates of the Cover, together with its customization and with the publication modes on the LifeBook of Posts, Albums and Tags, offer you the opportunity to interact with a diversified set of multimedia tools for the individual adaptation and characterization of your presence in Relifeme.
Publication of the LifeBook
The posthumous experience begins after the verification of your death and the consequent publication and viewing of the LifeBook on Relifeme.
The verification of your death is the most important information of all your user experience. This is the data that determines:
- the change of status on the platform of the LifeBook that from a personal diary becomes the Place of Remembrance and the meeting place of your communities;
- the start of the posthumous programming of your contents and therefore the publication on the LifeBook of Posts, Albums and Tags and the sending of all the corresponding notifications.
The verification system is based on your Non access to Relifeme for a predetermined period of time and mandatorily provides 2 checks, with the sending of recurring emails to the address that you provided during the registration. A first check is set by default after 3 months from the last access. If in these 3 months you do not access Relifeme at least once, the platform automatically sends you an email of confirmation of existence in life. If you do not reply, the second check starts after another 3 months that determines the sending of a further email with the same validation procedure. If you do not reply to this second email either, the automatic mandatory verification path concludes and the platform credits you as a deceased user and publishes your LifeBook.
From the Settings menu item you have available some customizations; these are the options:
- you change the mandatory period of time of the first Non access check;
- you change the mandatory period of time of the second Non access check;
- you add a third Non access check;
- you add the Validator confirmation, at the end of the automatic mandatory verification;
- you suspend the publication of the LifeBook and consequently you block the system for the verification of your death.
The options at your disposal to change the mandatory period of time of the first, of the second and of the optional third Non access check are:
- After 5 days;
- After 10 days;
- After 1 month;
- After 3 months;
- After 6 months;
- After 1 year;
- After 2 years;
- After 5 years;
- After 10 years.
To increase the security and the verification options of the system for the verification of the death, you can add a maximum of another 5 email addresses, in addition to the one of user access, to which to automatically send the requests of confirmation of existence in life. All the verification emails of the system for the verification of the death are recurring every 24 hours and for 5 days.
Validator confirmation
The Validator is the trustworthy person that you choose to confirm your death and to unblock a content in the Event publication mode.
The confirmation of the death with the Validator you can activate it from the Settings menu item, both if you have added the third optional Non access check, and if you have left only the first 2 mandatory ones. This further system of verification of your death provides that a third person identified by you, who may also not be a Friend of yours but a person not registered with Relifeme, verifies it and confirms it. The Validator receives a notification, sent automatically after you have not replied to the Non access checks, and from here is directed to a dedicated web area. In this section they read a message of yours, verify your identity and confirm your death. To guarantee the reliability of the system, you must choose 2 Validators who will be able to confirm your death autonomously, but the confirmation of only 1 Validator is sufficient to verify your death and publish the LifeBook.
The confirmation of your death by the Validator is a substitute declaration of an act of notoriety, pursuant to article 47 of the Italian Presidential Decree of 28 December 2000, no. 445, given under their personal responsibility. It is to all effects a self-declaration provided for by Italian law, with which a person attests under their own responsibility a fact of which they are aware, without the need to turn to a notary or a public officer. What is asked of the Validator that you have chosen is simple: to tell the truth and to respect your will. They are not asked to take on any further commitment, nor to pay anything, nor to sign formal documents. They must only confirm, in conscience, what they are effectively aware of. If their declaration is truthful, they do not have to worry about anything. The law provides, in fact, civil and penal consequences only for whoever knowingly declares the false.
To a Validator you can also ask to unblock a Post or an Album. This is the publication mode of a content called Event, with which you have the opportunity to be able to write a message on the occurrence of a particular event. The Validator may be the holder of the message, or another person. In both options, the publication path of your content is the same. The Validator receives a notification, sent automatically after the publication of your LifeBook, and connects to a dedicated web area. Here they read a message of yours, that explains to them to which event the Post or the Album is conditioned, and unblocks the content that remains unknown to them. Once unblocked, the content is published on the LifeBook and to its recipient is sent a notification that informs them that a Post or an Album in some way involves them, mentions them or is dedicated only to them.
Angels
The Angels are special Friends to whom you entrust the safekeeping of the LifeBook and grant some prerogatives to keep your memory alive and to perpetuate it.
To add a new Angel you must access the Settings menu item, from where you also manage all the special prerogatives that they will have on your LifeBook after its publication. You can have as many Angels as you want and the faculties that you assign to them refer to the entire group and not to a single one.
By default an Angel always has the possibility to:
- block and restore the Dedications that the users leave on the LifeBook and the Comments on the Posts and the Posts in memory;
- block and restore the access to your LifeBook of a user who writes Dedications or Comments that the Angel deems to be offensive, untruthful, inappropriate or simply unwelcome;
- add a new Friend and a new Angel who inherit the privacy settings of the LifeBook and of each single content that you have reserved for all your Angels and Friends.
To these functionalities provided by default for the Angels, you have the possibility to grant or not the publication on your LifeBook of the following posthumous information:
- the date of your death;
- the place of your death;
- the place where your remains will be conserved;
- the cause of your death.
Regardless of the prerogatives that you assign to the whole group, an Angel cannot in any way:
- see an Angel of yours or a Friend of yours saved by you on the LifeBook during your experience in life;
- delete a content of yours;
- modify the posthumous programming for the publication of Posts, Albums and Tags or for the update of the Cover;
- modify your personal data, except for the posthumous information if enabled by you, the Cover and every other page of the LifeBook;
- modify the settings of the LifeBook and of every single content.
To each Angel is notified the role that you have assigned to them, but they can refuse it, just as they can stop being an Angel of yours whenever they want. After accepting the assignment, the Angel can receive the Reports from the users of Relifeme who have the possibility to send them information and contents that concern you and to indicate to them connections with other LifeBooks, users of Relifeme and people not registered who could be interested in becoming Angels and Friends of yours.
Posts in memory
The Angels safeguard and perpetuate your image, adding new Friends and other Angels and organizing moments of gathering in your memory.
These are the Posts in memory that each Angel, if authorized by you, can write on your LifeBook. In the Settings menu item, you have the faculty, in addition to that of enabling all the Angels to the writing of the Posts in memory, also to:
- set the privacy of the Posts in memory, and therefore decide who can see them;
- consent or not the Comments on the Posts in memory.
As regards the privacy you can choose among the following items:
- All: the users who access the LifeBook can see the Posts in memory;
- Followers: the Followers, Friends and Angels included, can see the Posts in memory;
- Friends: the Friends, Angels included, can see the Posts in memory.
The management of the Comments on the Posts in memory is analogous to that of the ordinary Posts: you can consent them or not, consistently with the privacy modes that you assign to the Posts in memory and more generally with that of your LifeBook.
Although the Posts in memory have specific settings, the privacy of the LifeBook, that is who will be able to see it, is predominant over the privacy of the single Posts in memory and therefore you can only choose more restrictive options to limit their access. Starting from the privacy options that you have decided, the Angels, in turn, can further restrict the visibility of each Post in memory that they publish on your LifeBook.
Home
The platform also includes a Home of yours to which you access by clicking on the logo of Relifeme that you find at the top left in the pages of the LifeBook.
Just as the LifeBook is the tool to dialogue with yourself and to write your story, the Home is the user interface that gives you a way to take care of the LifeBooks that you have chosen as a Follower and of those where you are called as an Angel or a Friend. This is your Community, that you support and keep alive on Relifeme and that you always have in the foreground on the Home, from where you follow the posthumous publications of Posts and Albums, the Tags that mention you and the Messages for you. From the Home, moreover, you access directly the LifeBooks of your Community and you can consult the Recommended ones, in some way linked to your data and to your user profile, that you can also decide to follow as a Follower. The Home, finally, is also the interface designed for the consultation of all the LifeBooks published on Relifeme: from the Map and from the Advanced search system you can find the LifeBooks in All and Followers privacy mode; those in All mode you consult them freely as a simple Visitor, while those in Followers mode you can consult them entirely only by following them, becoming thus a Follower of theirs.
It is important to know that the Home and some of its tools designed for the management of the Community are not available in a first phase of launch of the platform. Relifeme, in fact, offers you a double experience: one during the passing of your life, the other starting from the verification of your death. In the first the LifeBook is the diary, personal and secret, with which to tell about yourself; in the second it will be the place of remembrance, it will be the tree around which to gather to truly understand who you have been and the values that you have left as an inheritance. To make you live this double experience, the Relifeme Web App has been designed for successive phases: one of growth and consolidation and, to follow, one of maturity, when the project will be accomplished and the users will be able to make use of all the tools and the functionalities to search, organize and read the published LifeBooks.
Notifications
All the activities that you program on a LifeBook start after the verification of your death and determine the sending of specific notifications.
As the Author of your LifeBook you are therefore a promoter of such notifications and at the same time, as a user of Relifeme, you are a potential recipient.
The Authors of the LifeBooks that you follow, or those who have left a Message for you or a dedicated Tag, could in fact send you the following types of notifications that you activate or block at any moment from your LifeBook or from the Home.
- Angel: the requests to become the Angel of an Author.
- Friend: the requests to become the Friend of an Author.
- Validator: the requests to become the Validator of the death of an Author or of one of their contents.
- Message for you: the Posts and the Albums for which an Author has set a privacy reserved for your name, that makes them accessible only to you.
- Dedicated Tag: the Posts and the Albums that contain a Tag with your name.
- Posts and Albums: the contents published posthumously by the Author on the LifeBook of which you are an Angel, a Friend or a Follower.
- Posts in memory: the contents published by the Angels on the LifeBooks of which you are an Angel, a Friend or a Follower.
- Dedications: the contents that the users leave on every LifeBook of which you are an Angel, a Friend or a Follower.
- Comments: the contents added on Posts and Posts in memory that the users leave on every LifeBook of which you are an Angel, a Friend or a Follower.
- Reports from the LifeBook: the indications about untruthful or inappropriate Dedications and Comments and the information that concerns the Author, of interest for the Angel who watches over and protects the LifeBook entrusted to them.
- Reports from the staff: all the information that concerns your user experience, from your relationships with the platform, such as the updates of the contract Terms, Privacy and Cookies, the news and the updates of Relifeme or the possible suspensions of your user profile, up to the limitations of access to the LifeBooks where you are a Friend, an Angel, a Follower or a simple Visitor and to the suspension of your Dedications and Comments, decided by the Angels.
The management of the notifications in Relifeme is particularly attentive, mainly for the Posts, the Albums and the Tags that you create on your LifeBook. The awareness that a content will be sent after your death to someone who could deem it invasive, or simply linked to emotions that they do not want to relive, requires specific privacy protection policies. The notification sending system therefore determines 2 different paths, depending on whether the contact who receives a notification of yours is:
- a person not registered with Relifeme;
- a user of Relifeme.
In the case of a contact not registered, the sending of an anonymous email is provided that informs them about the existence of Relifeme, suggesting 3 different options:
- NOT NOW;
- SIGN UP;
- I DO NOT PARTICIPATE.
If the person not registered with Relifeme selects NOT NOW, they refuse the request to participate, but they can keep receiving others. If they do not express any choice within 20 days and close or delete the email, they confirm the NOT NOW option. If the person not registered selects SIGN UP, they decide to discover who is the user who addresses them and to become part of Relifeme. Once they have become a user, they will be able to read the contents that concern them on your LifeBook, or accept the role that you have assigned to them. In the case in which their role is to confirm your death or to unblock a content of yours, as a Validator, the obligation to register is not provided. If finally the person not registered with Relifeme selects I DO NOT PARTICIPATE, they reject your request to participate and block all the future ones, both yours and those of other users.
A person not registered, whichever option they choose, when they become a user of Relifeme always has the faculty to:
- block the notifications whenever they want;
- recover all those previously refused.
In the event in which your Friend, Angel or Validator were a user of Relifeme, the management of the notifications is the one internal to the Web App and provides their sending according to the settings and the types of information seen previously.
In addition to the general settings of all the notifications, for every LifeBook where you are a Friend, an Angel or a Follower you can decide which types of notifications to receive and also disable their sending entirely.
Searching for a LifeBook
You can find the LifeBooks of all the users by browsing the Map of Relifeme and using the system of filters of the Advanced search of the Home.
On the map you identify the placeholders of the LifeBooks, that represent the Places of Remembrance of the users: they are their light, the one that they switch on on Relifeme and that represents them. These are the places to which they feel they belong, they are the territories linked to their memories and to their most intimate sphere. Different however are the two maps with which you can reach the Places of Remembrance: one is on the Web App and is reserved for the users of Relifeme, the other is public on the institutional website and is open to everyone. On the first you can search the LifeBooks in All and Followers privacy mode and see those of your Community, that is the LifeBooks of which you are an Angel, a Friend or a Follower. Consistently with this setting, the map of the Web App, reserved for whoever has logged in, shows the placeholders from which you access directly the LifeBooks, within the limits of the privacy set by each Author. The public map present on the institutional website of Relifeme is instead accessible to everyone, including whoever is not a user or has not logged in, and works in a very different way: it shows only the placeholders of the reservations of the LifeBooks that will be published in those places and that correspond to the registered users. These placeholders are simple luminous points on the map: they do not open the LifeBooks and no information about the Author is shown nor any other data that could in some way be traced back to a user of Relifeme.
While with the map of the Web App you navigate the regions of the world to identify the LifeBooks of your interest, with the Advanced search you use filters that recall the data contained in a LifeBook and corresponding to the user profile of its Author. Starting from the name and the surname of an Author you have available these options for the search of a LifeBook:
- Date of publication, the date of entry in Relifeme of a LifeBook;
- Date of birth;
- Date of death;
- Cause of death;
- Nationality;
- Other nationality;
- Gender;
- Language of belonging;
- Native language;
- Calling;
- Religion.
Reports
You can report all the LifeBooks and every single content, in the case in which you were to find untruthful or inappropriate data.
The Reports are one of the most important tools of Relifeme: they serve to protect the respect and the dignity of every person present on the platform. Relifeme has a characteristic that makes it different from any other social network: the contents of a LifeBook are made public only after the death of whoever wrote them. At that moment the Author is no longer here and cannot clarify, correct or answer for what they have left. Precisely because whoever created those contents is missing, the responsibility to watch over their correctness cannot fall on a single person, but is entrusted to the entire Community. It is a form of self-regulation that asks each user to collaborate: to report is a gesture of protection towards others. We therefore ask you to report every content that you deem detrimental to the image or to the dignity of a person, or defamatory, discriminatory, violent, racist, sexist, contrary to the law or in any case harmful. This protection does not concern only the registered users, but also whoever is not: anyone, in fact, can be cited, named or portrayed by an Author within their LifeBook, despite never having joined Relifeme. These people too have the right to see their image respected, and the Reports serve to protect them too.
What can be reported:
- an entire LifeBook published after the death of the Author, including the images and the Thoughts of the Cover, or the case of a LifeBook published when the Author is in reality still alive;
- a single posthumous content published by the Author, such as a Post, an Album or a Tag;
- a single non-posthumous content published by another user, such as a Post in memory, a Dedication or a Comment;
- the behaviour of an Angel in the exercise of the powers of management of the LifeBook of a deceased Author;
- any other circumstance deemed relevant, through the Write to the staff functionality, available to all the users and accessible from the Profile menu item.
All the Reports must indicate a specific motivation. Whoever reports without having verified with attention, or whoever reports the false, is suspended from Relifeme together with their own LifeBook.
You can also write a reserved message, and if you want anonymous, to the Angels of a LifeBook to communicate data and news of the Author, indicating also any connections with other LifeBooks, users of Relifeme and people not registered who could be interested in becoming Angels and Friends.
Conscious use
Relifeme is a social network that offers you a new experience and invites you to be a user who consciously uses tools and functionalities.
These are some considerations on which we ask you to dwell.
- You must be aware that the memory you leave of yourself could be unwelcome and therefore some of your contacts could not want to read your LifeBook.
- An Angel or a Friend could refuse your invitation, or accept it and then stop following you. Just as a Validator could not carry out the instructions that you have left them.
- In addition to the certainty of the publication of the LifeBook, you must be aware that all your contents are and will remain inviolable, together with the posthumous programming that you will leave and the groups of Angels and Friends.
- You will have to take particular care of the information that you will save on your LifeBook, as all of it could be reported and, if it were to result untruthful, or in any case in some way inappropriate or in violation of the law, it will be removed and your user profile cancelled, together with the LifeBook and all its contents.
- If you join Relifeme conscious of the respect towards all those who will be able to access your LifeBook and that you will in some way involve, you will be free to open up to a dialogue with yourself and with the other people; you will be able to leave the memories you want, write and talk with whoever you decide and whenever you want.
- With the same awareness you must live your experience of participation on the LifeBooks of which you are an Angel, a Friend and a Validator, towards which, if you accept their role, you are bound to the respect of will and memory. An analogous behaviour you must keep on the LifeBooks of which you are a Follower or a Visitor, because, even if in the role of a passing user, you enter into their most intimate sphere and interact with the mark that they have left.
